SHRESHTA Scheme is a new scheme launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to provide residential education for high school students from the Scheduled Caste (SC) community in selected areas. The scheme will award full scholarships to students with excellent academic performance from 9th to 11th grade.
The scheme is only open to SC students and will start from the academic year 2024-2025. To qualify for this scheme, students need to take the National Entrance Test for SHRESHTA (NETS), a computer-based exam conducted by the National Testing Agency at the national level.

Key Highlights Of Central Govt SHRESHTA Scheme
- SHRESHTA Scheme is a plan by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to help SC students live and study in High School in some places.
- The plan will give money to the students who study well from class 9th to 11th.
- The money will pay for all their school costs. Only SC students can get this plan.
- The plan will begin from the next school year 2024-25

Only students who are SC can try for this plan
•The student must be in class 8th and 10th this school year
•parents should make Rs 2.5 lakh or less in a year
•Students who want to go to class 9th should be born between 1st April 2006 to 31st March 2010
•Students who want to go to class 11th should be born between 1st April 2004 to 31st March 2008
•There is no money to pay for the test
•Applicant must live in India always

Selection Process of SHRESTA Scheme
The selection process for the SHRESHTA scheme consists of two stages:
- Stage I: Online Application
- The candidates have to register online on the official website of NTA and fill up their personal, academic, and contact details.
- The candidates have to upload their scanned photograph, signature, caste certificate, income certificate, mark sheet of Class 8 or equivalent examination, and other relevant documents.
- The candidates have to pay the application fee of Rs. 1000/- through online mode using debit card/credit card/net banking/UPI/Paytm.
- The candidates have to submit their online application form before the last date specified by NTA.
- Stage II: National Entrance Test
- The candidates who are shortlisted based on their merit rank in Class 8 or equivalent examination will be called for a national level entrance test conducted by NTA at various centres across the country.
- The entrance test will consist of multiple choice questions based on general knowledge, reasoning ability, mathematics, science, and language skills.
- The duration of the entrance test will be two hours and there will be no negative marking for wrong answers.
- The candidates who qualify the entrance test will be allotted seats in various private residential schools affiliated to CBSE or State Board based on their rank and preference.

How to Check List of Selected Candidates
The list of selected candidates for each round of seat allotment under SHRESHTA scheme will be published on the official website of NTA along with their roll numbers, names, marks obtained in NETS entrance test, category wise reservation details, city wise seat allotment status, etc.
The candidates can check their list by logging into their account on using their application number and password. They can also download their provisional allotment letter from after verifying their details.
